תקציר קורות חיים -בראונר, יעקב
בן שרה ודויד, נולד בשנת 1928 בעיר לודז', פולין. לאחר שסיים בית-ספר עממי נלקח על-ידי הנאצים, כשאר חבריו, אל מחנות-ההשמדה. במחנות אושוויץ ודאכאו עברו על הנער ימי אימים וייסורים, אך מכל אלה יצא שלם בגופו וגם רוחו לא נתערערה בו.עם תום המלחמה ושחרורו מהמחנה הנאצי הצטרף באיטליה לתנועת-הנוער "דרור" ועלה לארץ ב-1945 במסגרת "עליית-הנוער". את הכשרתו קיבל בגבעת השלושה, עבד בגן-הירק והתבלט בקרב חבריו במרץ הבלתי-רגיל שבו וברעיונותיו הנועזים.תקופת "עליית-הנוער" נסתיימה בהצטרפותו להכשרה מגויסת שלהפלמ"ח, בה התאמן במחתרת.עם פרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות נקרא לשירות והשתתף בפעולות-קרב רבות: לחם במסגרת חטיבת "הראל" בסביבות חולדה, ליווה שיירות לירושלים, השתתף בפעולות "נחשון", "הראל" ו"מכבי" עד שנפצע. אחרי-כן נשלח לקורס חובשים ובתפקיד זה פעל עד יום מותו. יעקב נפל באורח טרגי ביום י"ז באלול תש"ח (21.9.1948) כשיצאבג'יפ, בשעת בין-השמשות, להוביל מים ואספקה למשלטי מעלה החמישה, בדרך המתפתלת בין ההרים. הג'יפ שבו נסע התהפך ונידרדר במורד התלול. יעקב נפצע פצעים קשים ומת בבית-החולים בירושלים. נקבר בגבעת השלושה.ביום כ' בחשוון תשי"א (31.10.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים.(דף זה הוא חלק ממפעל ההנצחה הממלכתי "יזכור", שנערך ע"י משרד הביטחון).
Review: Son of Sarah and David, Born in 1928 in the city of Lodge, Poland. After finishing school he was taken by the Nazis, with the rest of his friends, to the death camps. In Auschwitz he suffered terrible abuse, but still his spirit staid strong. When the war ended he joined the "Dror" youth movement and made aliyah to Israel in 1945.
